News - Gill Shaw Exhibition - Textile Artist
3 - 28 April 2007
Works by well known artist, Gill Shaw are currently being shown at Gallery 370, Gill has been developing her specialist art form for over twenty years.
Working from observation, sketches and photographs, she creates a multi-layered picture, to be enjoyed both close-up and at a distance. After painting on the fabric, layers of material, fabric, nets, suedes or other materials are then applied by handstitching only, to create the picture.
Gill has had a number of solo and joint exhibitions in Tanzania, Kenya, Cyprus and the UK.
Her works are now to be found in countries across the world, and in the permanent exhibition collection at the prestigious International “Nature in Art” Gallery at Wallsworth Hall, Twigworth, near Gloucester.
Her individually designed pieces are entirely handmade, without any machine embroidery, and often take several weeks if not months to produce.
